I took a sabbatical from blogging there for a while. I was stretched too thin after publishing Hollow Company, and honestly needed a mental health break, by cutting back on some of my obligations.
I’ve decided with October being Domestic Violence Awareness month, this is the perfect time to come back. Better yet, with a new and fresh idea! The Survivor Series!
The silence of survivors tends to perpetuate the issue of domestic violence further. Our abusers love to feel in control. When we use our voices, it removes their control and gives us back our power. The more we talk openly about this uncomfortable topic, the more WE feel supported, and the less these sickos can operate in silence. By not holding them accountable, they’ll continue to repeat their poor behaviors without fear of retaliation.
I’m looking for fellow survivors, who are in a place to share their stories. I personally experienced a sense of empowerment when I shared mine. Having others reach out and share their stories with me, helped greatly with my healing process. There’s something to be said about not feeling alone. It provided closure to a story that for me, hadn’t ended yet.
Through this series, I’m hoping to help others feel the same. I would like to “interview” you and gain some information on your relationship/experience/trauma and share it on this blog. This of course can be done anonymously or using real names. Survivors will have the final okay before the piece is published.
If this opportunity sounds interesting to you, please reach out to me by direct message on my Facebook page or by emailing me at hmieljn23@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
